Traditional
Doctor Mvanah Maloti is a Metis man of Irish and Cherokee origin
and was a Manitou before his ancestral spirits called him to train and
heal in the Kingdom of Swaziland (South Africa) in the tradition of
Zulu shamanism.
Raised in the presence of Native American/First Nation people, Vanah began to heal in his familial traditions at the age of 12. Considered
"gifted" he was taken under the wings of his grandfather and great
grandfathers and mentored appropriately.
At 14 years old Vanah began to heal with sound, crystals and spirit
energy.
After High School he attended a post-secondary school in the valley to
study NLP and Core Issue Hypnotherapy. The kind Doctor remained with
that Institution for nearly 3 years time during the course of which he
majored in group mind dynamics, the placebo effect and ecstatic states
(shamanic states) of consciousness.
It was during this period that Vanah again became heavily involved
with firewalking and the regular sweat lodge and medicine wheel
ceremonies of his people.
At the age of 18 the young man began to study with various mystery
schools and societies including the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn
and Rosicrucian Order(s) and became a Master Freemason within the
Acacia Lodge of his home town.
At 20 he went on a shamanic pilgrimage through Colorado, Utah, Idaho,
Wyoming, Montana and into the Black Hills of North and South Dakota in
search of "Miracle Moon" the sacred white buffalo of the Lakota Sioux
prophecies.
Together with an Arapaho friend and healer they were finally
successful in their endeavors and met up with Miracle and her Native
caretakers in Custer, SD. At only 21 “trips around the Sun” he was
formally initiated into a Mestizo (mixed blood) order of shamanic
healers and medicine men. |

After his
hypnotherapy training and education (supplemented by years of working
experience with mineral spirits, crystals and Usui, Karuna ™ and
Seichim Reiki), Vanah decided to go back to school in order to learn
Massage Therapy and Bodywork for use in his work as a healer. Off to
the Utah College of Massage Therapy (UCMT) he went and eventually
became the center point of his graduating class.
His goal at UCMT was to combine the body with the mind and spirit in
order to form a holistic approach to classic “health and wellness.”
This combined both ancient and contemporary modalities and systems of
thought and consciousness.
While there Mvanah Maloti specialized in Cranial Sacral Therapy, Deep
Tissue Bodywork and Structural Integration. He also leaned heavily
towards the energetic modalities such as acupressure while
implementing indigenous medicines simultaneously.
Taking advanced courses in nutrition, herbology, breath work,
aromatherapy, homeopathics, GeoTran and EFT (among other modalities)
he excelled quickly and was now being widely sought after by people
from all walks of life for healing and spiritual diagnosis.
After this experience and having generated quite the “following” over
the years, he went to work with a Chiropractic Doctor in Sandy (Utah)
where his business flourished.
It was not until 2004 that TDr. Mvanah Maloti received the order from
spiritual beings presenting in the form of his ancestors to become a
traditional healer in the Zulu fashion. This came in the form of
dreams and sickness that our budding shaman could not heal or address
alone. |

"In
these dreams I was in Africa sitting on earthen floors throwing bones
and concocting muti - traditional plant medicines. My consciousness
would expand across the landscapes to include grass huts, elephants,
lions and hippos. I knew instinctively that I was in Africa."
In various dreams and visions which lasted for months Vanah
experienced himself with the Zulu healers . . . drumming, rattling,
singing, dancing, chanting and praying. These were ways in which he
had already healed and blessed and worked and it felt very natural and
comfortable up to this point.
The dreams persisted and he traveled to Swaziland as per instructions
from the world of Spirit to live and train with the Amazulu.
"I was diagnosed by various Sangoma’s and tribal elders who had
dreams about me years before my arrival. Over time my body has become
adorned with various marks, scars, piercing, branding and tattoos to
mark rites of passage and initiations, spiritual rebirthing and
alterations in my consciousness as a man. The Zulu produced written
records describing my appearance in detail years before our meeting."
The Zulu had dreams, visions and journals of a painted healer coming
to be with them and recognized Vanah immediately upon their meeting.
After making first contact with the Amazulu the elders replied in
writing, “Come quickly, son. We are waiting for you now.”
“During my first diagnosis (much like a reading) with bones by 85
year old Zulu Elder and Master Sangoma PH Mntshali, the HEALER and
PROPHET bones landed in my lap on the first throw and casting. Eyes
grew wide as smiles of acceptance spread like a wild fire across the
faces of those present.” |

This information
confirmed that he was indeed possessed by ancestral spirits and was to
become a Sangoma (traditional healer) in the Zulu fashion. He is one
of just 4 American’s ever to complete this grueling process of
training, initiation, qualification, examination and graduation as a
Traditional Doctor in the South African tradition of Zulu shamanism.
Back at home he maintains this “call to heal” with a full time
practice and spends his free time writing about indigenous
spirituality and healing rites the result of which has been a focused
work titled “Shapeshifter.”
This young man is truly an “Old Soul” and his life has been regarded
as living anthropology and a Pillar of Light and spirituality manifest
through direct action. He is a testament to the healing powers of the
mind and spirit and living proof that dreams can and do come true.
He offers his work and writing for the benefit of the Earth from which
he draws his inspiration. Enjoy this man while you can still get to
him! He is destined for greatness.
Sincerely,
Kathleen McDurmad, Ph.D
